Rutgers-The Paralyzed player Eric LeGrand Rutgers' LeGrand Eric is paralyzed from the neck down after he was injured during a game against Army on Saturday. Reports state that Eric's injury appears to be very serious, since he underwent emergency surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center late Saturday night. He is reportedly on the road to recovery.
According to reports, Eric had no movement in his body, especially in the area under his neck. Doctors performed an emergency operation to Eric's spine to stabilize it, or else his condition would have deteriorated. Friends, family and fans hope that he recovers from this injury.
Grand was held in the intensive care unit of the Medical Center and is expected to continue for the next few days. His coach told the media that he responds to treatment and to recognize anyone around him.
Coach Greg Schiano was full of emotion during the press conference after the race at the New Meadowlands Stadium. He said: "We want to thank everyone for all your prayers, kind words and good wishes. We appreciate any idea. Eric is in good spirits and we pray for a full recovery."
