Autumn is slowly creeping upon us with his brisk morning wind, a significant drop in temperature and the transformation of our dear summer leaves from a healthy green to the familiar orange, yellow and brown. Getting out of bed is a monumental task, and the walk from the bathroom after showering is even worse.
But who can complain? Fall is a beautiful season, especially in Geneseo. This change in the season, however, brings an ever-so-famous fashion trend that unfortunately gets stronger every year. At least one month has come and gone and this 8-year-old style is back:
ugg cardy: They are everywhere on campus. Not surprisingly, you will find them everywhere in dining halls and academic buildings, but they are also a huge hit on nightlife and Geneseo are often seen at athletic events and girls partying at fraternity houses.
UGGs come in all different colors from black to lime green, but the most common color is chestnut, chestnut boots in particular have an uncanny resemblance to the bed of a dog around someone’s ankles. All lengths are available – if you do not want a boat that actually covers your legs, you can use the “Women’s Classic Mini,” but most go for the Classic Short, “about eight inches high, not to mention made with real sheepskin. Where hand in hand with a pair of oversized college sweatpants and a hoodie, the UGG boots possibility of a girl looks like a sloppy mess to do.
Sure they might be the most comfortable things you’ve ever felt feet, but in this case, certainly not overwhelm the comfort mode. Are your feet sore and cold that they need to be contained in two inches thick sheepskin all day? Geneseo this is not the tundra. UGG boots are a staple of closets across America, and I find myself thinking: Why? How is it that a pair of shoes so unattractive has become such a success in a world where people tend to worry more about appearances than anything?
